The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore (2011)

The_Fantastic_Flying_Books_of_Mr_Morris_LessmoreIt’s actually an Oscar winner, and to my surprise a 2011 production. It’s an animation short, but nevertheless extremely funny and interesting. Let’s face it, you don’t get an Oscar just for showing up, and are not given away for free either. However the movie is free to watch! Awesome. So, let’s see what’s it about? “Inspired, in equal measures, by Hurricane Katrina, Buster Keaton, The Wizard of Oz, and a love for books, The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore is a poignant, humorous allegory about the curative powers of story. Using a variety of techniques (miniatures, computer animation, 2D animation) award-winning author / illustrator William Joyce and Co-director Brandon Oldenburg present a hybrid style of animation that harkens back to silent films and MGM Technicolor musicals. Morris Lessmore is old-fashioned and cutting edge at the same time.” Written by Anonymous on IMDB. So, there you go, enjoy; I know, I did! 😀
