Freemake – the Almighty Downloader

freemake“How can I download this; how will I convert this into… ?” are both questions I get quite often from friends, clients, and even strangers that have heard I’m a “computer wiz”. For me finding such software was not a complicated job, Google tends to help, if you’re good at writing in the appropriate keywords. Surprisingly many people, tend to have a problem with that, so they turn to me, and as it always happens, I have an answer. No, this is not bragging, I do have always an answer to their problems, and maybe now to your’s, if you’re reading this short post. People, you, me, each and every one of us, tends to want to download stuff from the internet for several reasons. What you should know is that, doing so is not illegal by itself, but you can end up doing illegal activity over the internet by pointlessly downloading everything you see. Downloading stuff from Youtube or converting videos to audio, or vice versa are all legal as long as you’re doing it in a legal manner. There are also grey-zones. One of which is “flash issue”. Believe it or not, some computers, laptops and netbooks get into serious trouble and tend to completely freeze if full-screen flash videos are watched. That is most of the time thanks to something you usually call the “graphics or video card”. Both Nvidia and ATI are known to have produced horrible versions of such cards – I actually own one on a DELL Inspiron 1501. While there are workarounds to that, it is still frustrating, so lots of people end up using downloading software in such cases. Freemake offers a nice bundle of software, that seems to have pleased most folks, hence the sharing of it right here. In short this is what they claim and frankly it’s correct:

Download any video from thousands websites! From YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo, Veoh, Dailymotion and 10,000+ sites. Extract audio, MP3 from YouTube, convert any online video to AVI, MKV, MP3, iPhone, iPod, PSP, Android.

Use it wisely! 🙂
